The project
A global full-service provider of modern train systems decided to develop a new, flexible software platform to serve as the foundation for all functions required for the operation of rail vehicles. Examples of subsystems within this software platform include propulsion and braking, diagnostics, passenger information systems, video surveillance, and train-to-ground communication with cloud connectivity.
In the subproject described below, in which the develop group played a key role, the communication and distribution of data between the train and the ground were redesigned and implemented using various wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi and cellular networks). In addition to modern functions for control, diagnostics, monitoring, and maintenance, the feature set also offers innovative solutions for applications such as multimedia streaming and telemetry.
